Can I Apply? [ Top ]
Age
Applications can be accepted at the age of 18 for appointment.
Height
Males and females should be 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 3 inches tall respectively, to join Maldives Police Service.
Qualification
You should have C pass or higher in minimum 6 subjects including Dhivehi and Islam at Ordinary Level Exam.
Nationality
You must be a Maldivian.
Previous Applications
If you have previously applied to join the police service and been unsuccessful, you may not reapply for six months from the time you were notified of the outcome of your last application.
Criminal Convictions
Police officers must respect and uphold the law. They should be law-abiding and have a high standard of behavior and social conduct. Officers with criminal associations or convictions may be vulnerable to pressure to disclose information. Convictions and cautions for certain offences can also undermine a police officers position as a witness in court. For these reasons we need to be careful about recruiting people with cautions or convictions. Although you may still be eligible to join the police service if you have minor convictions/cautions, there are certain offences and conditions which will make you ineligible. Applicants are likely to be rejected if they have been involved in any of the following: Offences involving serious violence or injury and Actual Bodily Harm Offences involving unsolicited violence towards others Gross indecency, Public Order offences ; involvement in riot, violent disorder, affray, causing intentional harassment, alarm or distress .Burglary and offences which involve elements or acts of dishonesty, corruption, substantial financial gain or serious loss to anyone including theft, fraud and deception .

Step 1
On receiving your application form we will check your eligibility and mark your competency questions. If your application is successful you will go on to Step 2. If you are not successful we will give you appropriate feedback.
Step 2
You will be invited to attend a medical and a fitness test. These may be on separate days. Medical and Eyesight examinations Certain standards of health and eyesight will be essential when carrying out your duties as a police officer. Prior to your appointment you will be invited to attend an eyesight test and medical examination where you will be tested against the required criteria. After completion of all the formalities and on being selected you will be sent for training which is approximately 3 months.
Training Program
You will under go basic training at Law enforcement training center. You will be trained to the highest standards, enabling you to manage perform your duties effectively to provide a professional and acceptable service for your community.
