Illegal drugs caught by Customs and Police Drug Intelligence
In a special operation undertaken by the Customs and the Police Drug Intelligence, they have caught 2 people attempting to traffic large amount of illegal drugs into the Maldives. These drugs were caught last night at 22.53 inside the bags of two Bangladeshi nationals (Shah Aalam, 24 years and Siraj, 28 years), who arrived Male on flight MH 189. Shah Aalam had these drugs hidden inside a rubber bag and a pair of jeans while Siraj had them hidden inside a package in his suitcase. All these packets have been identified as Cannabis and they all weight 3.6kg with the packing.
From these 2 Bangladeshi nationals, Siraj had visited the Maldives before. They were apprehended as they were boarding the ferry along with three other people who were at the airport to receive them. Currently, one from these five people has been released.
