Iskandhar Building - a 9 storey building for the Police

Today, the Iskandhar Building, a 9 storey building for the Police was opened by the Vice-President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik in a ceremony held this afternoon. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Home Affairs, Mohamed Shihab, Senior Officials of that Ministry, President of Male Municipality, Adam Manik, Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Faseeh, Commissioned Officers of the Police, Senior Executives of FW Construction.
In the ceremony, the Vice-President spoke about the service the Police provides the country as the "most important service". He spoke about the work of Police to maintain peace and order within the country to provide each individual their constitutional right, and stated that he has had the opportunity to experience the work of Senior Officers first hand and deemed their work and the work of all Maldivian Police as "professional". The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Faseeh expressed that this building has definitely solved the problem of insufficient space to carry out Police tasks, and the value of this building can only be compensated through the provision of proficient and resourceful service to the people of the Maldives. In his speech, the Commissioner also thanked all parties involved in the construction of the building.
This 9 storey Iskandhar building accommodates a Forensic Laboratory, and instruments such as a "polygraph" to interrogate criminal suspects. The building also consists of a mosque "Masjidhul A dhul" which was opened by the Minister of Home Affairs. As the first prayer in Masjidhul A dhul, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ali Rasheed was the Imam of Asr prayers held later in the afternoon.
