Maldives Women in Policing Gala Night Held

As part of the activities to mark Maldives Women in Policing Day, a Gala Night for female employees of the Maldives Police Service was held.

The event, which took place on the night of September 22 at the Iskandhar Building Multipurpose Hall, was graced by Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau and his wife. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan, executive officers, female police officers of various ranks, as well as representatives from the event sponsors Island Perfume Bar, Shiyam World, Jumeirah Maldives, and Raya by Atmosphere.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau said it is a matter of pride that female employees were working in all areas of policing. He expressed great joy that female employees, who previously worked in administrative roles, are now working in various departments of MPS. He thanked and congratulated all these employees. Furthermore, the Commissioner stated that approximately 15 percent of the institution's employees are women and that providing opportunities for women to advance is a goal of the institution. He also noted that such activities organized by the Women in Policing Committee provide a good opportunity to foster camaraderie among female employees, and encouraged the planning of more such activities specifically for female employees.

During the event, commemorative plaques were presented to parties who assisted in various ways with different activities of Maldives Women in Policing. Island Perfume Bar, Shiyam World, Jumeirah Maldives, and Raya by Atmosphere were recognized for their support with commemorative plaques. Certificates of appreciation were also given to departments and other employees who have assisted the Maldives Women in Policing Committee.

Three randomly selected female employees who participated in the event received MVR 750 gift vouchers from Island Perfume Bar, and seven other randomly selected participants received perfumes as gifts from Island Perfume Bar. The event, which featured live music, concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony followed by dinner.
