Maldives Police Service Recognizes Contributions and Exemplary Service at Appreciation Ceremony

In a prestigious ceremony held yesterday, the Maldives Police Service honored individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the police force over the past year. The event, attended by esteemed dignitaries and high-ranking officials, served as a platform to appreciate the dedication and exemplary service demonstrated by both officers and civilians.

 

The ceremony, graced by the presence of Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, Minister of Higher Education, was also attended by Commissioner of Police Mohammed Hameed, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ali Rasheed, as well as Executive Officers and Commissioned Officers of Police. Dr. Ibrahim Hassan emphasized the importance of maintaining the police institution's reputable image and earning the people's love and support through exemplary conduct.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan highlighted the responsibility of every officer to act as a guardian of the country's values and the rights enshrined in the Constitution. He stressed that the police must be acutely aware of the freedoms and rights guaranteed to the people, ensuring that their actions never violate or infringe upon these fundamental principles. Dr. Hassan further urged the police force to serve the people without discrimination, working collaboratively for the betterment of society.

 

Furthermore, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan emphasized the need for Maldives Police Service officers to stay informed about international best practices and adapt modern techniques and equipment to their operations. He encouraged the force to enhance their international presence, command respect, and share their knowledge and experiences with the global community. Dr. Hassan emphasized that being a police officer is not merely a job but an honorable duty, emphasizing the importance of upholding the principles and responsibilities associated with wearing the uniform.

 

During the ceremony, recognition plaques were presented to members of the public who have supported and contributed to the police force's work over the past year. Commissioner of Police Mohammed Hameed personally handed certificates to 20 recipients, including companies, businesses, and individuals, acknowledging their significant contributions.

In addition to the public's recognition, outstanding police officers were also honored for their remarkable commitment and dedication. A total of 20 officers who displayed exceptional initiative and went above and beyond their assigned duties were awarded recognition plaques, along with 11 employees who played pivotal roles in the success of major police operations.

 

Moreover, 13 employees were recognized for their invaluable contributions to the successful resolution of significant cases submitted to the police service. Their efforts and relentless commitment to justice were acknowledged through the presentation of recognition certificates.

Among the recipients, a special mention was made for an employee who sustained injuries while fearlessly carrying out official duties. This individual's unwavering dedication was recognized and appreciated and was presented with a recognition certificate as a token of gratitude.

The Maldives Police Service's appreciation ceremony not only celebrated the invaluable contributions of both civilians and officers but also served as a reminder of the shared responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for the rights of every citizen.
