Commissioner

Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau joined the Maldives Police Service in September 2006. Prior to his career in the police service, Commissioner Ali Shujau served the government for 8 years. He was commissioned in 2008 and has since worked in areas such as police training, operations, intelligence, and investigations as well as fulfilled leadership and management posts within the Maldives Police Service. Further, Commissioner Ali Shujau has represented the government of Maldives in numerous professional forums at both national and international levels. He was appointed as the Commissioner of Police by the President of Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on 25 December 2023.


The Commissioner, Ali Shujau, holds a Master’s degree in Management from Malaysia and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from India.


Commissioner Ali Shujau has obtained the following professional certifications:


- Basic Training Course for Indian Police Service Probationers in 2006-2007 at Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, India.


-Asia Regional Law Enforcement Management Program, 2010, Australian Federal Police RMIT Vietnam, Vietnam.


- Advanced Security Cooperation Program, 2014, Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Hawaii, United States.


- 42nd International Senior Police Officers Command Course, 2016, Royal Malaysia Police College, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.


- 277th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, 2019, Quantico, United States.
