Information Sessions Held in HDh. Atoll to Combat Scam Calls
28 JulIn a concerted effort to combat scam calls and protect residents from technological fraud, information sessions have been conducted across several islands of HDh. Atoll. These sessions aimed to educate the public on recognizing and preventing scams that seek to obtain money illicitly.
During the sessions, participants learned about the nature of scams, various types, potential dangers, and proactive measures to safeguard against such threats. Additionally, practical advice was given on responding when faced with fraudulent situations.
The sessions, which took place from July 22 to 27, targeted traffic monitors and parents from three schools in Kulhudhuffushi City, as well as parents from schools in Vaikaradhoo, Hanimaadhoo, Nolhivaranfaru, Nolhivaram, Neykurendhoo, and Makunudhoo. A total of 670 individuals were informed through these efforts.
Furthermore, staff at police stations in HDh. Atoll received specialized training on critical aspects to consider when investigating scam cases.
These sessions were led by Superintendent of Police Abdullah Rasheed, the former head of the Economic Crime Department, highlighting the importance and expertise brought to this awareness initiative.
