Tourist Security and Safety Enhancement Program conducted in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll
24 NovA “Tourist Security and Safety Enhancement Program 2024” targeting those working in the local tourism industry has been conducted in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
As part of the program, police teams visited nine islands providing tourist services. They inspected safety and security measures at tourist facilities, offering recommendations to address identified shortcomings.
Information was also shared on measures that can be taken to ensure safety and prevent incidents when conducting water sports activities for tourists, including preventive measures and necessary safety precautions.
Additionally, meetings were held with councils to identify their concerns and share information on collaborative efforts that can be made to address these concerns.
As part of this program, information was also provided to the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Police. This included procedures for handling tourism-related cases reported to the police, improving interactions with tourists, and inspecting tourist facilities.
Furthermore, a swimming and lifesaving skills program was conducted for tourism staff to enhance their ability to respond to emergencies.
This program was conducted in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll from the 17th to the 21st of this month, in collaboration between the Airport and Tourist Police and the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Police.
