Maldives Police Service Marks Completion of First International Forensic Diver Course

13 Jul

“This course stands as a historic milestone, being the first of its kind to welcome international officers into our training framework,” said Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen at the closing ceremony of the Forensic Diver Course held on 11 July 2025 at Dh. Vaanee.

Organised by the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement (NCPLE), the course ran from 18 May to 11 July 2025 and was the first forensic dive training program to include international participants. Officers from the Police Academy (Cambodia), King Fahd Security College (Saudi Arabia), National Police Academy (Sri Lanka), and the Maldives took part in the training.

A total of 10 participants successfully completed the program, which covered Open Water, Advanced Open Water, EFR Rescue, and Forensic Diving Courses. The course was conducted with the support of the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA).

In his address, CP Naveen praised both local and foreign participants for their dedication and professionalism. “Your participation has added tremendous value, not only in terms of knowledge sharing, but in deepening professional bonds that transcend national borders,” he said.

The Commissioner also highlighted that the success of this program reflects the vision laid out during the establishment of NCPLE in 2022, to serve as a regional hub for specialised policing and professional development. “With this successful course, we have taken a bold step toward turning that vision into reality.”

The event concluded with certificate presentations, speeches by participants, and a group photo with the Chief Guest.

Maldives Police Service thanked INTERPA and the participating institutions for their collaboration and reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international training opportunities in the years ahead.
