Maldives Police Service Inaugurates Cyber Security Operation Centre, Marking “A New Era in Protecting Our Nation’s Digital Borders”
11 Aug
“Today, we witness a historic step in the journey of the Maldives Police Service، the official inauguration of our Cyber Security Operation Centre. This is not just the opening of a facility, but the beginning of a new era in protecting our nation’s digital borders,” declared Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen as he addressed dignitaries at the inauguration ceremony of the MPS Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC).
The newly established CSOC is designed to serve as the nation’s “shield and watchtower” in cyberspace, detecting, preventing, responding to, and deterring digital threats. The Commissioner stressed that in the modern age, national security depends not only on physical policing but also on the ability to counter invisible threats in the cyber domain.
“This centre will ensure that the Maldives stands ready, resilient, and united in the face of any cyber threat,” he said.
The facility was established with the generous support of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a partnership the Commissioner described as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations. He extended heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, President of Cybersecurity for the UAE, for his “generous support, strategic guidance, and belief” in the Maldives’ mission to secure its digital frontlines.
Homeland Security & Technology Minister Ali Ihusaan was also thanked for his leadership in making the project a reality.
Commissioner Naveen concluded with a message of unity and shared purpose: “Together, with our friends and partners, we will safeguard the future of our people in both the physical and digital worlds.”
The CSOC inauguration marks a significant milestone in the Maldives Police Service’s ongoing efforts to modernise security operations and enhance resilience against evolving global cyber threats.
