Account means a unique account created for you to access our services or parts of our services.

Application means the software program provided by MPS and downloaded by you on any electronic device, named PoliceMV.

Country refers to: Maldives

Device means any device that can access the services such as a computer, a smart phone or a tablet computer.

Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

Police Records is any and all information that’s stored in the Police Information Infrastructure databases that involves the user. Any part of this privacy policy does not apply to these records.

Service refers to the application PoliceMV.

Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the software or from the service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).

User means the individual accessing or using the software, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the application, as applicable.

We, Us refers to Maldives Police Service, Shaheed Hussain Adam Building, Male, Maldives.

While using our software, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

Mobile number

Home Address, Island, Atoll, or City

Usage Data may include information such as a user’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our service that you visit, the time and date of the visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

When you access our services by or through a mobile device, we may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

 

We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our service or when you access the service by or through a mobile device.

 

Information Collected while Using the Application

 

In order to provide features of our application, while you use our application, we may collect, with your prior permission:

 

  • Information regarding your location
  • Information from your device's phone book (contacts list)
  • Pictures and other information from your device's camera and photo library

 

We use this information to provide features of our services, to improve and customize our service. This information may be uploaded to PoliceMV servers and/or a service provider's server or it may be simply stored on your device.

You can enable or disable access to this information at any time, through your device settings. 

 

Use of Your Personal Data

 

Maldives Police Service may use your personal data for the following purposes:

To provide and maintain our service, including to monitor the usage.

To manage Your Account: to manage registration as a user. The personal data you provide can give you access to different functionalities of the software that are available to a registered user.

To contact you: To contact you by email, telephone, SMS, or other equivalent forms of electronic communication, such as a mobile application's push notifications regarding updates or informative communications related to the functionalities, including the security updates, when necessary or reasonable for their implementation.

To provide you: With news and general information about services and events which we offer that are similar to those that you have already subscribed to unless you have opted not to receive such information.

To manage your requests: To attend and manage service requests from you.

For other purposes: We may use your information for other purposes, such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our crime prevention or other public activity campaigns and to evaluate and improve our software, services and your user experience.

 

We may share your personal information in the following situations:

 

  • With Service Providers: We may share your personal information with Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our service, to contact You.
  • With Affiliates: We may share your information with other government agencies, in which case we will require those agencies to honor this Privacy Policy. These agencies typically include those with whom we are legally obligated to share data.
